The moose is for the land animals (there are 175,000 moose in Alaska). The Chinook salmon and giant pacific octopus and the colors they are on are for the freshwater and marine resources, respectively. The raven is for the birds in general. All of the animals are featured in Alaska Native legends. The green stands for trees and wood resources. The yellow is for mineral resources.
