Category:Divisions
Divisions are partitions of the field into separately coloured sections. Some times the larger ordinaries or other charges are also coloured using one of the simpler divisions, such as a roundel per pale azure and or. DrawShield supports the divisions listed below.
All of the "larger" divisions may be drawn with a pattern along the lines of separation, instead of a straight line. See the page on edges TODO for more details. In addition, there are two special divisions which have pattern edges only along the named edge - quarterly-per-pale, quarterly-per-fess
Herald's Notebook: There is an important difference between a divided field and a shield consisting of two or more arms, marshalled so that each of them is in its own division. With a divided field, charges and ordinaries are placed the same way they would be on a plain shield. With marshalled shields each division has its own charges and ordinaries.
