Notes

The northern most municipality in Finland, the coat of arms of this lapp/sami region represent the aurora borealis and the norther pole star Polaris (Ursa Minor Beta) seen in the sky especially during the 51-day polar night during which the sun does not rise at all. The arms were officially granted April 20th 1950.
