PITTENWEEM (Fifeshire). The entry in the Lyon Register is as follows: — " The Royall Burgh of Pittenweeme gives for Ensignes Armoriall, Azur in the sea a Gallie with her oars in action argent, and therein standing the figure of Saint Adrian with long garments close girt, and a mytre on his head proper, holding in his sinister hand a crosier or. On the stern a flag disveloped argent, charged with the Royall Armes of Scotland, with this word ' Deo Duce.' 2nd August 1673."
