Son of Philippe II, duke of Savoy and delegitimatized at the behest of the former's second wife Marguerite of Austria in 1502 thus bestowing upon him the sobriquet "The Great Bastard of Savoy". Subsequently exiled, he died at the Battle of Pavia in 1525.
