Notes
The personal coat of prince-archbishop Gunther von Altenberg. Argent is a color of purity and the crimson cape, emblem of episcopal authority, is charged with symbols of spiritual (archiepiscopal cross) and temporal power (closed gauntlet). The rose is a personal emblem and stands on the trimontium simbolizing the three hills of Altenberg. The battled chief with the paschal lamb refers to the crucial role played in defense of the Faith during the siege of Altenberg, when the prince successfully stood against the heathen horde.
