Notes
A key figure in the political and religious quarrels against Lafrancian knights and bishops, in Ochsenhutte he granted safety to the Calter heretic Pierre Lapin, haunted by the Inquisition; attacked by a coalition of Lafrancian noblemen led by Roland the Montjoye and his allies, he ultimately defeated them in the field battle of Metzingen.
