Notes
It is the oldest municipal body in the Commonwealth of Nations outside Britain. It is the second oldest municipal corporation in the world after the City of London. The Two Fishes, Tiger and Bow represents the symbol of the ancient kingdoms of Pandiyas, Cholas and the Cheras. The Sea and the Boat represents the seashore of Chennai. The castle triple tower and torse are equivalents of Ripon Building and the twisted rope cornice compartment under the Ripon Building since no suitable charge exists.
