Crowns. Crowns were not originally marks of Sovereignty, but where bestowed by the Greeks on those who gained a prize at the public games. At first they were only bands, or fillets, but subsequently assumed various forms according to the peculiar feat of valour the person, to whom they were granted had performed.
When borne as a charge ifnot named to the contrary is generally drawn as a Ducal Coronet. P. 24, f. 35.
