BURNLEY (Lancashire). Or, a chevron engrailed gules, between in chief two fusils and in base a lion rampant sable, a chief wavy of the last, thereon a dexter hand erect couped at the wrist argent, between two bees volant of the first. Crest — On a wreath of the colours, upon a mount vert, a stork argent, beaked and membered gules, holding in the dexter foot a stone, and in the beak a cottonflower slipped both proper. Motto — " Pretiumque et causa laboris." [Granted 1862.]
