Numbers

When referring to the quantity of things, such as charges, DrawShield can recognise numbers between 1 and 64 using either digits or words - 8 bars or twelve ermine spots.

In addition, words such as the, a, an are recognised as meaning "1". Heralds dislike repeating themselves so the phrase as many can be used to mean the most recently used number.

For the purpose of identifying individual quarters in a quartered shield only a much broader range of number references can be used, see the information on Quarterings for details.
