This section contains the most common large divisions that split the field more or less evenly into two parts. Divisions which may have variant edge types are shown with '+' symbols.
Herald's Notebook: The quarterly division can have up to four different colours, which will be used clockwise from top left. We don't have a particular heraldic precendent for this but it can be useful at times. (A similar effect can be obtained with quartered followed by charges and ordinaries overall, but we believe that this method is both shorter and clearer).
